In a dense urban context with a strong patrimonial value, the project for the commercial agency of the OPAC de l’Aube tries to reconcile historical quality and spatial quality. It offers an alternative to the architecture with the fashionable picturesque references of historical Troyes.
The existing building, from the 17th century, is restored as faithfully as possible. The new building is set on the exact location of a 3-story, poorly constructed house that is virtually in ruins. On the inside, the free plateaus are combined around the patio, allowing a maximum of flexibility. A few colored windowpanes or polycarbonate walls give a sense of confidentiality.
The façades are glazed to allow users to work under a natural light. On the street side and part of the courtyard side, the building hides behind a wooden double-façade, light and changing, yet affirming its autonomy, allows to keep the contrast with the wood frame building to a minimum.
